Las Vegas, Nevada, March 22, 2007: Las Vegas, March 22, 2007: Builders Insurance, the original private workers' comp coverage provider for the Nevada construction industry, has announced the application period for its 2007 scholarship program, according to Larry Long, Vice-President of Builders Insurance Company.

"This year, Builders Insurance will offer twenty scholarships of $1,500 each - a total of $30,000 in scholarships to be awarded," Long said. "Last year, Builders Insurance awarded eighteen scholarships, and those were just $1,000 each, so 2007's scholarships represent a significant increase in our efforts to help the college-bound kids of Builders' members.

"Since 2001," Long pointed out, "Builders Insurance has contributed more than $168,000 in scholarships to nearly 200 recipients. We do not commit members' insurance funds to this scholarship; all monies used for the scholarships come solely from member late fees paid by companies insured by Builders Insurance," Long explained.

To be eligible for a scholarship, individuals must be a high school senior or high school graduate - or, they must be a GED Recipient. Finally, they must be either accepted by - or currently enrolled as a full-time student - in an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university. The college or university does not need to be in Nevada. Scholarships must be used at an accredited college, university or post-graduate vocational school.

Builders Insurance awards the scholarships to individuals based on the recommendations of an independent scholarship committee composed of educational administrators who are unaware of candidate's names or their affiliations to the members, staff or others in the Builders Insurance leadership.
