One of Nevada's Two Largest Workers' Comp Carriers
Honors 18 Students with $1,000 Scholarships

Las Vegas - July 6, 2006: Builders Insurance Company - one of Nevada's two largest workers comp insurance providers, and Nevada's largest construction industry workers comp provider, announced 18 2006 Scholarship Awards to children of employees at participating member companies at their just-completed Appreciation Luncheon for insureds. Since the program's inception in 2000, Builders Insurance has awarded $138,000 in scholarships.

More than 1,100 area construction industry contractors and sub-contractors are represented by Builders Insurance Company, according to President Wayne Harris, and each year Builders Insurance singles out a group of children of employees at those companies to receive special $1,000 scholarships. These scholarships are funded by late-fee penalties paid by member firms that submit their periodic workers comp program payments late; none of the funds come out of the workers comp fund itself.

Builders Insurance provides workers' comp coverage - as well as comprehensive safety and fraud-reduction measures - to help participating companies reduce on-the-job injuries and reduce workers' comp claims, and costs. They are also committed to providing scholarship support to children of employees at their more than 1,100 member companies.

The 2006 Builders Insurance Scholarship Award winners include: Elizabeth VanBuren, Jaclyn Beckwith, Taylor Gardner, Jennifer Guadagno, Taleesa Anderson, Amanda Paez, Jessica Reed, Marissa Shaffer, Grant Henderson, Meghan Olsen, Lauren Olsen, Jennifer Reisig, Neilsine Martin, Jenny Paez Bleyl, Nicole Vannatta, Erin M. Stein, Taylor Beckwith and Johnathan D. Poole.

Scholarships were awarded in the following academic categories:

Psychology, Broadcasting, Pre-Med, Business, Physical Therapy, Criminal Justice, Accounting, Art/English, Communications, Sociology, Health Care Administration, Aviation, Political Science, Cosmetology, Early Childhood Development and Biochemistry.

Since the program's inception in 2000, Builders Insurance has awarded more than $135,000 in scholarships to eligible children of employees at member companies.
