Safety Division of One of Nevada's Largest Workers' Comp Insurers
Hires Two Senior Safety Specialists For Reno Office
Las Vegas, Nevada, July 25, 2006: There is no second chance to put safety first, which is why Builders Insurance Company, one of the state's largest workers' comp providers, invests heavily in on-the-job worker safety. To enhance the firm's already enviable track record - more than three times better than the national average, according to 2005-2006 statistical reports on accidents and pay-outs by workers' comp firms nationally - Risk Services-Nevada, administrator for the company, has just hired two exceptionally well-qualified safety professionals, Rob Watson and Curtis Williams.
These two men - one with a career of success in safety and loss prevention, the other exceedingly well-trained by the military for just this role - have joined the team of safety experts who provide safety and loss control services to the more than 1,100 Nevada construction companies that look to Builders Insurance to provide comprehensive workers' comp protection to their employees - and to their owners and investors.
Rob Watson - Cowboy-Turned-Safety Expert
Rob Watson is a cowboy, but not when it comes to working safely. Born in Indiana, he was raised on a 75,000 acre cattle ranch in Northern Nevada. Schooled in the rugged skills of a working ranch, he went to school in Fallon, Nevada, and lives there now after traveling the country doing a variety of jobs utilizing the hands-on experience gained on the range.
For Rob Watson, joining Risk Services-Nevada is another major notch in his belt of achievements in the safety field - achievements that extend back over two decades.
During the mid-80's, Watson worked for the second-largest sand and gravel producer in Arizona, overseeing 150 workers including four asphalt plants and two crushing plants. He investigated three fatalities in his safety career - and doesn't ever want to do that again.
Watson worked in the Chicago area for seven years, owning his own water-front boat repair business. Weary of dealing with regulators, he sold his share of the business to a partner and came back to Nevada. After pulling a short a stint as a welder in a Reno shop, this jack-of-all-trades worked as a risk manager for an employee-leasing firm before joining Risk Services-Nevada as a full-time Northern Nevada Safety & Loss Control Representative.
Curtis Williams Trained in Military
Curtis Williams began his safety career in the military, working in the fire protection field in the Air Force - a huge responsibility for a branch of the service that deals with petrochemical fuels and high explosives during day-to-day operations, as well as during the rigors of combat.
Trained as an Emergency Medical Technician, after retiring from the Air Force, Williams worked for five years for defense contractor Halliburton, providing hands-on safety services in a variety of high-risk and high-threat environments.
For instance, Williams worked for this major defense contractor in Kuwait City, as well as in Eastern Europe, before returning to the states and finding a home in Reno. Settling there with his Hungarian-born wife, Csilla, Williams and his wife recently celebrated the birth of their 3-month old daughter, Amilia.
